Results of adjustments to online slot games are published by the Gambling Commission

The Gambling Commission has conducted an assessment of the effects the modifications that were enacted two years ago have had on the behaviour of gamblers as a result of those changes.
The Gambling Commission has made public its analysis of the adjustments that have been implemented with regard to online slot games and the outcomes that have been seen thus far.

According to the findings of the investigation, there is some evidence to suggest that, ever since the modifications were made to the online slot games, there has been a decreased degree of play intensity during sessions.

In addition, the Commission found that despite a decrease in spin speeds, there was not a significant rise in the amount of staking activity that was carried out by users to compensate for this.

In conclusion, a poll that included 2,000 adults found that there was no evidence to suggest that the alterations had a major adverse effect on the players' enjoyment of the game.

This statement was made just a few hours after the Gambling Commission released a study stating that the average length of slot sessions had grown by 10%.

Tim Miller, Director for Policy and Research, made the following statement after this change was implemented: "Our assessment of the changes to online slots games has shown indications of reduced play intensity with no significant negative impacts on play or behaviours."

"That is encouraging, but we are not getting our hopes up and will continue to keep a close eye on this particular segment of the market for any unintended circumstances or non-compliance,"

On February 2, 2021, it was reported that a set of stringent restrictions would be put into effect, which included a total of six amendments and prohibitions that would take effect on October 31, 2021.

These included prohibitions on features that either speed up gameplay or offer the perception of directing the outcome, slot spins that were faster than 2.5 seconds, autoplay features, and any illusion of a win when the return was less than the initial investment.

A running record of wins and losses will now be presented in the user interface, and the practise of "reverse withdrawals," in which players could previously utilise the money that they had sought to withdraw in order to continue gambling, will no longer be permitted permanently.
